After a season filled with the highest highs (stellar episodes) and the lowest lows (cancellation), The Expanse will be back for Season 4 thanks to Amazon, who promptly went and picked the show up. With memorable characters introduced in Season 3 and the epic reveal [SPOILER ALERT] that the Ring allows access to and from thousands of worlds, we can’t be more excited for the future of this hit television show. Here’s what we’d like to see on The Expanse next season.

Anna and Amos from The Expanse

More Anna

First of all, is it even possible to give the talented Elizabeth Mitchell enough praise for her portrayal of Reverend Doctor Anna Volovodov? Throughout Season 3, Anna was a breath of fresh air, bringing a sense of morality to a show in which the lines between right and wrong are always blurred. In the season’s final two episodes, we caught a glimpse of an interesting dynamic between Anna and Amos. We know Anna only appears in the third book of the series of novels that The Expanse is based on, and with the show so far mostly matching season to book, it would be incredible for viewers to see her relationship with Amos play out a bit more next season. Maybe Anna could help Amos with his impulses? Regardless, Anna added a much-needed extra layer to this season and we pray that the writers somehow find a way to write her character into the show for good. She basically saved humanity, after all. With Amazon taking control over The Expanse from here on out, anything’s possible!

An Update on Earth

More focus on Earth means more focus on Chrisjen Avasarala. We want to see more of what she brings to the table. Incidentally, in Season 4, we expect to hear quite a few more F-bombs from her – as well as the other characters, since Amazon is far freer with its cursing. After Anna successfully helped end the corruption with Sadavir Errinwright and Secretary General Gillis on Earth, we’re interested in seeing what developments have taken place in their absence.

Bobbie Draper from The Expanse

Bobbie Draper Joining the Rocinante

After suffering from a gunshot wound in the finale, it seems as if Bobbie Draper is on the road to recovery and has finally joined the Rocinante crew. Who can blame her after she had to take down her fellow Martians? We highly doubt Mars wants anything to do with Bobbie now. Luckily, Alex is there to help. Will they become an item? It certainly would be an interesting dynamic.

Clarissa Mao from The Expanse

A Reunion For Clarissa Mao

During season three, Clarissa Mao was insufferable and killed a lot of great people (Rest in peace, Tilly). Despite this, it seems as if she’s on the path to redemption after her last-minute change of heart in the finale. It would be nice to see more of her next season, but maybe not as a main character. Honestly, her character arc is probably finished and we’re guessing she’s on her way to jail. However, it would be nice to see her reunite with her father – even if it is behind bars.

Miller from The Expanse

Premonitions From Miller

When Miller first appeared to Holden this season, we were glad to see him again, albeit in protomolecule form. We’re not sure if there’s any room for Miller now that everyone has left the ring, but we have a feeling that Holden will continue to have hallucinations, or even premonitions. Is it possible Miller will be delivering these messages to Holden again? We’re quite sure of it. Oh, and it would be a shame to waste the talents of Thomas Jane.

Characters from The Expanse

Working Effectively As a Team

Over the course of three seasons, the Rocinante crew just couldn’t seem to get it together. With every new episode came some sort of conflict that sent characters off on their own. In the Season 3 finale, Naomi finally declared that she’s staying for good. We hope it’s true. We’re ready to see the crew work as a functioning team. A show about Alex, Amos, Holden, and Naomi traveling through space exploring different worlds would be fine by us. Add Anna, Bobbie, Camina, and Prax to the crew and the series would practically write itself.

The Ring from The Expanse

The Exploration of New Worlds/Aliens

Speaking of new worlds, the Season 3 finale of The Expanse is a complete game changer. The revelation that the ring now provides access to countless new planets turns checkers into chess. Will the Rocinante crew begin exploring these worlds? A time jump makes sense for Season 4 because, let’s face it, who wants to see Holden go on trial for the fake broadcast that was sent out, for one thing? If we’re lucky, Season 4 will open with a bang — bringing with it the new characters we loved from Season 3.

Camina from The Expanse

Camina Kicking Ass

One of the greatest strengths of The Expanse is a cast filled with strong women. From Naomi to Bobbie and everyone in-between, viewers are constantly treated to powerful women kicking ass. Always surprising viewers, Camina is an unstoppable force. Though we’re not sure we’d be up for another season of her and Commander Ashford butting heads, we would definitely enjoy seeing Camina take charge. Just like she always does, in fact.

Amos from The Expanse

Amos and His Backstory

Amos’s backstory has been hinted at quite a bit and with the addition of Anna in Season 3, now is the perfect time to dive deeper into his past. Amos seemed to easily open up to Anna for some reason, and we think this is a great way to explain a bit about his history. A few flashbacks of his time in Baltimore wouldn’t go amiss. Amos has been a fan-favorite since Season 1 and we want his character to get fully fleshed out next season.
