Your weekend time is valuable and at the end of a long week, the discretionary time must be spent to its maximum value. To help narrow down your choices on the film, television, and gaming fronts, every Friday, the Weekend Preview gives you the rundown of your options and an educated guess as to which ones make the most sense.

Drew and Nick predicted the box office returns for these films last Sunday. Check it out!

At the Movies

Incarnate

Director: Brad Peyton
Stars: Aaron Eckhart, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Carice van Houten
Current RT Meter: No Score Yet (Oh boy…)
Drew’s box office prediction: $3,000,000
Nicks box office prediction: $2,750,000

You would think Incarnate would clean up this weekend because it’s the only film in wide release. But between the sure-to-be bad reviews, crowded box office and tired premise, this movie looks like it’s going to come and go quickly. It’s a shame because Aaron Eckhart is a supremely likable guy and we could always use more good horror. The film might bring in some teens out on dates and the horror faithful but it will likely make a very minor dent in the competition.

The Verdict: Perhaps Incarnate will surprise us all and be a sleeper hit. But the signs don’t look promising.

On the Tube

Westworld (HBO, December 4)

Man, Westworld really is something, isn’t it? The show that has reignited HBO’s drama line-up after a few misses is ending its first season this Sunday. Will all the questions be answered? Maybe. Will more questions be asked? You bet. Will the first season nail the landing? More importantly, does it even need to? The show has been a huge breath of fresh air and just what HBO needed. If I were a betting man, I would wager the finale is going to leave people wanting lots more.

The Verdict: If the rest of the season is any indication, Westworld’s finale is going to be terrific. Prepare to have your mind blown.

Pete Holmes: Faces and Sounds (HBO, December 2)

Pete Holmes is a supremely funny dude. He’s not everyone’s cup of tea (which comedians are? Oh, maybe these ones!) but he’s made a name for himself as loud, friendly and surprisingly deep when given the chance. His first HBO special airs this weekend and is sure to bring the funny. We could all use some more laughs after this train wreck of a year so join Pete and let him put a smile on your face.

For the Gamers

Final Fantasy XV (PS4, Xbox One)

It’s here. It’s finally, finally here. After an entire decade of waiting, fans are playing Final Fantasy XVThis is a game people have been feverish about and I’m sure quite a few schedules were cleared this weekend. The reviews have been favorable and fans seem to be taking to the radically new combat system. Many are saying this is the best Final Fantasy in years. Even a non-FF fan like me is itching to give it a shot. A lot of Playstations and Xboxes will be getting workouts this weekend.

The Verdict: If you’re a fan this is a no-brainer. Even if you aren’t you might want to give it a whirl.

Have a great weekend, folks! See you next time!
