The Week in Fandom returns to update you on the hottest news in games, movies, and TV. For the week ending August 26, director Doug Liman Leaves Gambit for Warner Bros.’ Justice League Dark, we’ve got a big update on Fallout 4: Nuka-World, there’s word that Community creator Dan Harmon is working on Doctor Strange, and the Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel DLC is confirmed.

Director Ditches Gambit for Justice League Dark

Good news: Justice League Dark just got a director. Bad news: Gambit just lost a director. That’s right, Doug Liman has decided to drop the ragin’ cajun and fall in line with the creepy, supernatural DC heroes instead.

Liman left Gambit this week, leaving Fox in the hunt for a new director (again). The film, which will star Channing Tatum as the titular X-Men hero, has had director troubles before. Liman was the second person set to helm the feature. The first, Rupert Wyatt, left the project back in 2015. Between the search for a filmmaker and constant script rewrites, Gambit has had trouble getting off the ground. Production is now set to start in 2017 but who knows if it’ll actually happen. You can expect news on a fresh director very soon and we’ll see if they stick.

The PS4 Slim Leaks All Over the Internet

Sony has a big event planned for the future of PlayStation in early September, but news came out a bit earlier than the game publisher would’ve liked. Some sneaky folks got their hands on retail systems of the unannounced slim redesigned PlayStation 4. People have seen the smaller hardware and the new look for the controller all before Sony was ready to unveil it. Just take a look at the first shots of the PS4 Slim.

Fallout 4: Nuka-World Everything We Know

Nuka-World is Fallout 4‘s sixth and final DLC. In an official livestream event this week, Bethesda developers Mark Grandstaff and Mark Teare took viewers on an expanded tour of Nuka-World‘s opening moments. They showed off the initial questline to get into the park, along with some of the visitable areas that players will discover. Along the way, they also raffled off some cool Nuka-themed prizes as well. Take a look at our roundup below for all the details.

Doctor Strange Gets Jokes from Dan Harmon

Doctor Strange is just months away and the production is still chugging along at full speed. Though the premiere is relatively near, the script is still being worked on — most likely for filming of pre-planned pick-up shots — and it’s receiving an assist from an unlikely writer: Dan Harmon.

Harmon, creator of Community and co-creator of Rick and Mortyhas been brought on by Marvel for some script work.  Harmon joins the writing club of director Scott DerricksonC. Robert Cargill, and Jon Spaihts. Check out our article below for the full story.

Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel DLC Confirmed

This week, Bandai Namco officially confirmed Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel. The new Dark Souls III DLC add-on takes place in the frozen land of Ariandel. Players must defeat an evil force in order to discover why the land has become defiled. The expansion will include new enemies and challenges, and will complement the story of Dark Souls III. They also confirmed that Ashes of Ariandel will contain new weapons, armor, and magic spells, as well as additional PVP features. Check out the trailer and more in the article below.
