Watch the First Four Minutes of ‘Preacher’

I can’t understand anyone who isn’t excited for Preacher at this point. The buzz has been outstanding, the characters look pitch perfect, and the changes that have been made are going to make a great story even better for television. Don’t believe me? AMC has just released the first four minutes of the pilot episode, and if this doesn’t get your blood pumping then you might have already exploded from being possessed by an otherworldly force.

Check out this delightful craziness:

What a perfect way to kick off such a gonzo show. The wacky decision to film outer space (read: OUTER SPACE) like some ancient school documentary tells you how goofy this show is going to be from the first second. The balance between being eerily profound and darkly ridiculous is struck with such precision in the pre-titles scene, showing us the first peek at the entity known as Genesis. How great is it that it’s crying like a baby? This show is doing the comic such justice. And our first glimpse of Jesse Custer shows us a man who looks and feels defeated by his responsibilities. And for fans of the comic, hearing that classic Willie Nelson tune should have you jumping up and down in your seats. In just four minutes, we’ve been introduced to Preacher in such a confident way that I can’t see what follows dropping the ball.

Sundays are going to start being known for a different kind of church. If this sneak peek is any indication, Preacher is going to be the breakout show of 2016. Any show that starts with a space baby, exploding pastors, and some salty church sign shenanigans get an A+ from me.

Preacher explodes this Sunday on AMC at 10/9c. You might want to put Grandma to bed early for this one.
