SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from the Season 8, Episode 4 of The Walking Dead entitled “Some Guy.” Proceed with caution.

The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 4 will turn you into a cat person and make you ugly cry. If you don’t want a spoiler, now is the time to turn away. Shiva, Ezekiel’s beloved tiger, sacrifices herself to save his life. She’s devoured by walkers, and, just like Ezekiel, all we can do is watch. Although so many plot points are covered in the latest episode of The Walking Dead, “Some Guy” belongs to Shiva.

In the world of The Walking Dead, destruction is everywhere. Shock is the norm, and survival is redefined. A sense of family, camaraderie, loss and deterioration grows with every arc in the story. In Season 7 everyone got a big cat & fell in love with her roaring meow. She’s gone, and now we’re all ugly crying.

Ezekiel Almost Dies First

Before Shiva appears, Ezekiel is almost killed by a Savior. As usual, The Walking Dead avoids predictable moments, but an Easter Egg clearly signals Ezekiel is now on borrowed time.

R.I.P. Shiva

Ezekiel lives, but Shiva dies a horrible death that can’t be unseen, sacrificing herself for Ezekiel. No matter how many losses we’ve experienced up to this point in the story, losing our CGI pet is too much to bear. Nobody was ready to say goodbye to Shiva.

Remembering Shiva

ICYMI, fans have been in love with Shiva since the Season 7 finale, when saves Rick Grimes’ son, Carl.

Nobody is Smiling RN

Ezekiel opens “Some Guy” with a passionate speech that isn’t often given by just any guy. His leadership qualities fill the first 2 minutes with positivity and hope. He tells the Kingdom to smile, in the face of fear.

He guides his kingdom toward saving themselves, an omen for what’s to come.

In “Some Guy”, Ezekiel’s comrades die to save him, including Shiva. Nobody is smiling anymore.

Just like the comics, Shiva dies because of her fierce loyalty to Ezekiel. Shiva is every fan’s cat, and all our cats are Shiva. After watching “Some Guy”, every cat in the home of a Walking Dead fan is getting wet food and a toy. Every animal companion is getting extra treats and love. After witnessing the most painful death in The Walking Dead, we remember all our pets who have sadly taken a trip to rainbow bridge while we hold our furry friends close. Tonight, we are all Ezekiel’s friend, because we’ve lost our tiger, too.

The zombie apocalypse has finally breached the heart of the Kingdom, but most of the major plot points are overshadowed by a loss we can’t unsee. Did you watch “Some Guy”? Did you notice the Ezekiel Easter Egg? Did you cry too? Let us know @getfandom on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
