During the Ubisoft E3 Press Conference, the company surprised the attendees with a new action sports IP called Steep. The game packages a handful of mountain sports such as skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, and wingsuit flying together and adds a multiplayer and social element to those activities.

The game’s backdrop is the expansive mountain range of the Alps, and players can pick and choose particular peaks to carve up. Steep remains seamlessly online, and players can occupy the same mountain without bumping into each other. When playing, users can replay great runs, control various first-person and third-person cameras, and share their greatest runs with their friends and the world.

Perhaps the coolest aspect of Steep is the ability for players to share challenges. While viewing their runs down the mountain, they can highlight specific jumps or slopes and publish a challenge for their friends to recreate their accomplishments. There is a wide variety of criteria to select from, giving players a large amount of freedom to boast in their own unique way.

Steep-Challenges

It will be interesting to see if the gaming world is ready to dive a new action sports once again. Fans of EA Sports’ SSX series might find Steep treading too close to already explored territory.

Steep is scheduled for release on December 2016 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC.
