Fans of Trollhunters know that the epic showdown between Jim and the evil warlord Gunmar nears.
Like many heroes, Jim is given a gift that may turn the tide of battle in his favor.
In this exclusive clip from Dreamworks Trollhunters Part 3, Stricklander gives Jim grave sand, which he inhales and takes on new abilities.
“In humans, the grave sand will hone you feral instincts. It changes your instincts. Some of the changes are permanent,” Strickler warns.
Indeed, after breathing in the grave sand, Jim’s pupils turn yellow, his voice deepens, and he becomes enraged.
“Use that anger,” Strickler instructs, which is reminiscent of the Dark side of the Force from Star Wars. With his newfound powers, Jim is able to easily dispatch both Strickler and Nomura in their troll forms.
Blinky then appears and warns of the dangers of the sand, urging him to follow his human instincts instead of what the sand unlocked.
According to the description for Part 3, “to defeat them, the team must seek the help of the legendary wizard Merlin to unlock his ancient magic and unleash a powerful weapon that will alter the course of their lives forever.” Will the grave sand be Jim’s trump card when facing off against Gunmar? Fans will have to see.
Help will also come in the form of two allies, Aja and Krel, voiced by Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany and Rogue One’s Diego Luna. Emile Hirsch takes over voicing Jim, replacing the late Anton Yelchin.
Trollhunters Part 3 will premiere on May 25.
The first installment in the Tales of Arcadia trilogy, Trollhunters will be followed by two additional series 3 Below in 2018 and a final chapter Wizards set to debut in 2019.
