Isabela Moner is a rising star, and it doesn’t hurt starring opposite the world’s highest paid actor, Mark Wahlberg.

The teen actress played Izabella in Transformers: The Last Knight, out this week on Blu-ray and DVD. FANDOM sat down with Moner to talk about the fifth entry in the popular film franchise, and all the mental and physical preparation she did for the role. Plus, we asked what it was like working with Wahlberg on set.

Moner’s Transformers education came courtesy of the earlier Michael Bay-directed films.

“While I had already watched Michael Bay’s movies; those are what I kinda grew up watching,” she admitted. (Yes, if you felt old after reading her quote, so did we.) The first Transformers came out ten years ago. Moner ended up diving even deeper into the fandom for the role.

In addition to honing her knowledge about the Autobots and Decepticons, Moner had to get in shape as well — a necessity if your costar is Wahlberg. Moner took boxing classes, but was still unprepared for the intense physical effort filming took. She learned that Mark Wahlberg is just not an action pro, but a dedicated family man as well.

Finally, we asked the 16-year-old which Transformers car she’d want to drive now that she’s getting her license, and her answer might surprise you.

Check out our interview with Isabela Moner above and watch her in action in Transformers: The Last Knight, out now.
