Today, Netflix finally showed us the first full trailer for Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, and it’s an absolute delight. Check it out below!

The magic and innocent spirit of the character is here in full force, and there are lots of great folks who we can thank for that. For example, the film’s script was written by star Paul Reubens and Arrested Development writer Paul Rust. Reubens and Judd Apatow produced the project for Netflix, and John Lee, co-creator of Wonder Showzen, directed the film.

The setup is dead simple: Pee-wee’s still living his life in beautiful, quaint Fairville. But when a mysterious stranger (the hilarious and hunky Joe Manganiello) rolls into town, Pee-wee is inspired to get out of town and see the US on his first-ever holiday. All this makes me wonder if the film will stand on its own, or acknowledge Tim Burton’s 1985 film. On the one hand, some continuity would be lovely, but why not just make Big Holiday the best it can be on its own? Regardless, I’m sure fans of the previous film will find some homage in Pee-wee’s Big Holiday.

After premiering at SXSW 2016, you’ll be able to see it for yourself on Netflix beginning March 18!
