Is Sylvester Stallone in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’?

We’re all chomping at the bit for any news about James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, especially after learning that the legendary Kurt Russell will be in the film. With a catch like that, we figured the cast couldn’t get anymore eclectic. Today’s news certainly proves that wrong.

Reports say that Sylvester Stallone is definitely in the film, but who he’s playing has not yet been revealed. Well, we may have a good guess. Sources via Superhero Hype say that Stallone’s wardrobe looks very similar to what he wore in 1995’s Judge Dredd. Now, of course, Dredd isn’t stepping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the Dredd costume is similar to one we’ve seen in the MCU: the Nova Corps soldiers.

It’s highly unlikely that Stallone is playing Richard Rider, the most famous member of the Nova Corps, but it’s a pretty safe bet that he’s going to be one of the senior Nova Corps soldiers. Unless some other reports from Heroic Hollywood which say Stallone is playing a Ravager end up being true.

Truth be told, I’d much rather see Stallone in the Nova Corps than playing some scoundrel. Stallone can do authority and strength really well, but being a rapscallion has never been his strong suit. Maybe both are true and he’s a Nova Corps member infiltrating the Ravagers for whatever reason.

Regardless, Stallone is always a treat to see. His recent appearance in Creed showcased some of the best acting of his career, so it’ll be nice to see him just kick back and have some fun in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. We’ll all get to see him have wacky space adventures on May 5, 2017.
