Rocky creator Sylvester Stallone has taken to Instagram to tease the plot of Creed II. The actor has recently shared a batch of old photographs from Rocky IV featuring boxing heavyweight Rocky Balboa in the ring with Russian opponent Ivan Drago, played by Dolph Lundgren.

But his most recent posts have included some teasing captions.

Alongside a picture of Drago in the ring with the iconic Apollo Creed and himself, he wrote: “Directing APOLLO AND DRAGO, The two best “cinema” boxers that ever lived!… Maybe it’s time to try to again?”

And then he posted the following: “Here’s a chance to stretch your imagination … HISTORY WILL ALWAYS REPEAT ITSELF IN ONE FORM OR ANOTHER, JUST GOT TO BE READY! … Sins of the Father….”

Dolph Lundgren also teased us with this: “Stay tuned – life works in mysterious ways! 👊 #CREED2#ivandrago #slystallone@michaelbjordan @officialslystallone

Stallone and Lundgren seem to be teeing up a return to the franchise for Lundgren’s character Drago – and perhaps Drago’s son.

In Rocky IV, Drago killed opponent Apollo Creed in the ring during an exhibition match – and Stallone could be suggesting that Drago’s son could be introduced in Creed II to take on Apollo’s son Adonis.

The Rocky franchise was resurrected in 2015 with Creed, a sequel that picks up the story of Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis, played by Michael B. Jordan. Adonis would likely relish the opportunity to exact his revenge by taking on the son of the man who took his father’s life.

Even better, if he got the chance to make Ivan Drago himself witness it.

There are few details available yet for Creed II but it is currently set for a 2018 release. We’ll update with more news as soon as we get it.
