Where to Start With ‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ Multiplayer

Mass Effect: Andromeda is a huge enough game that the multiplayer is like a fun bonus. But before you wade into killing waves and waves of enemies, there are a number of things to keep in mind before you jump online. Here are our favorite starter tips.

Play the Tutorial

Even if you played a ton of multiplayer in Mass Effect 3, you should still play the multiplayer tutorial because there are many new features to check out. And the tutorial is actually kind of fun for a directed experience.

Don’t Forget Cover and Jumping

This is true for the solo campaign and just as true for the multiplayer: Keep a close eye on cover and where you can jump to. The dynamic, sticky cover will save your life in a tense battle, while the stages in Andromeda are laid out a lot more vertically. Having the high ground can be a lifesaver in a tense battle.

Adapt to Each Wave’s Goals

Depending on the mission, Andromeda multiplayer isn’t your straightforward, “survive every wave” horde battle. Based the wave, you can shift from all-out battle to hacking to King of the Hill style action. Be sure to check in with your teammates that you’re all on the same page about changing priorities in a fight.

Balance Your Team’s Abilities

You can build your characters as you like, but be ready to change your weapon loadouts and biotics to make for better team balance. You can’t all carry shotguns and Nova right? Unless you like the challenge of making that work.
