With the announcement that Alden Ehrenreich will be playing Han Solo in the Han Solo Anthology film and the fact that there are many more spinoff films that will be made after that are are some Star Wars characters that should get their own spinoff film.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Obi-Wan Kenobi was the Jedi who came out of hiding to help train Luke in the ways of the Jedi. He sacrificed himself on the Death Star and his backstory was left unknown. However, when the Prequel trilogy came out we learned about his many of his adventures like his adventures from the Clone Wars. However, the trilogy ended with him going into exile on Tatooine. Meaning 15 years of his life is left unknown (except for two adventures in the comics). There are a lot of stories to tell when hid from Vader and the Empire for 15 years and with Ewan McGregor expressing interest we may be getting closer to an Obi-Wan movie.
Boba Fett
Boba Fett was one of the most interesting characters in the films even though he spoke a few lines. When he fell into the Sarlacc pit in Return of the Jedi we were left with many questions about who he was. Although we got his backstory in the prequels we don’t know if he survived the Sarlacc Pit and if did what happened to him. With an Untitled Star Wars Anthology film (originally directed by Josh Trank before he left the project) that was going to be about Boba Fett, it is possible that it will still shed light on what happened after the pit or before we met Boba Fett, but after the prequels. Even if it isn’t, it is rumored that he will also be in the Han Solo film, shedding light on his relationship with the beloved smuggler.
Mace Windu
Mace Windu (portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson) was one of the few Jedi who had his own story arc in the Prequels. Even though he got his own story arc, we don’t know much about this Jedi Master other than that he was a member of the Jedi High Council and almost as high ranking as Yoda. His part is shrouded in mystery as we have no idea who he trained with, how he got his position on the Council and how he got his purple lightsaber. With his mysterious past, there are many stories to be told and if those stories were told it would had more depth to his character and make his death more tragic/impactful.
Darth Sidious / Palpatine
Darth Sidious (Sheev Palpatine) is one of the most evil beings in the galaxy, not only leading the Empire but he is also not afraid to get his hands dirty. Sadly, we only got 2 appearances until he met his demise. However, like other characters, we got to know how he became the leader of the Galaxy and the Galactic Empire in the Prequels but a lot of backstory was still left out. The only thing we know that wasn’t seen is that his master was Darth Plagueis (until he was killed by Palpatine). We have no idea of why he joined the Dark Side and how he became so powerful without anyone knowing and a spin-off film could explain that. With many theories that Snoke is Darth Plagueis, there is not a better time for this movie.
Yoda
Yoda was one of the oldest beings in the Galaxy at the time of his demise in Return of the Jedi. Most of those years is filled with untold stories (except for the information we got in the Prequels / The Clone Wars) so for Yoda the possibilities are endless. Although not knowing much about him makes him so interesting, there are many questions the fans want answers to. The top questions are obviously who trained him, how did he become the leader of the Jedi Order, and what his species is. Also, he is the most one of the most powerful Jedi, so much so that has taken on countless apprentices. Yaddle could also appear and since we know next to nothing about her. Imagine a love story featuring Yoda.
Ki-Adi-Mundi
Ki-Adi-Mundi is one of the more obscure characters in the Star Wars universe but he is a very powerful Jedi. He was a member on the Jedi High Council and participated in many battles including the Second Battle of Geonosis. Although he appeared in a few episodes of The Clone Wars we did not get a lot more information on this character. Being a powerful Jedi and being one of the more known members of the Jedi High Council yet still being unknown, there are a lot of stories to be told which could cover his mysterious past and even part of his history that we did not see.
Those are just some characters that deserve a spin-off film. With a new Star Wars film coming out once a year for the foreseeable future we will be getting many spinoff and standalone films.
