‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Gets Launch Date on Netflix and CBS All Access

Star Trek: Discovery will embark on its journey this September, CBS announced Monday morning. The sci-fi spin-off, the sixth Star Trek television series, will premiere on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 8:30 ET/7:30 CT. The time slot may be adjusted since NFL football airs that evening.

The premiere and second episode will also be made available that evening on the network’s on-demand streaming service, CBS All Access. Netflix will also be hosting the show starting Monday, September 25. The 15-episode season will be split into two parts, with the first eight airing from September 24 to November 5. A midseason premiere will air in January 2018.

Meet the Crew

Discovery follows the adventures of the titular starship and is set before the adventures of Captain Kirk in Star Trek: The Original Series.

Sonequa Martin-Green plays the lead character, Lt. Commander Michael Burnham. Prior to Discovery, Martin-Green played Sasha on The Walking Dead for five seasons.

Other cast members include Michelle Yeoh, Jason Isaacs, Anthony Rapp, Doug Jones, and James Frain as Spock‘s father, SarekDiscovery is the first Trek series to air since Star Trek: Enterprise wrapped in 2005.
