Sherlock Holmes is back on the case. Following an extended hiatus, the Cumberbatch-fronted BBC drama is resuming production. The commencement of Sherlock Season 4 filming began with a special video announcement posted to the show’s Twitter account.

Co-creator/writer/executive producer Mark Gatiss, who you’ll also recognize as the actor who plays Mycroft Holmes, says, “We’re back. The game is on.”

The slate shown in the video reveals that Rachel Talalay will direct the season premiere. Doctor Who devotees may recognize her name as the helmer of the most recent season finale.

Not much is known about the events of the upcoming Sherlock season, except that Moriarty is poised to make his return, with the character’s storyline potentially headed for a shocking conclusion.

Benedict Cumberbatch, who just wrapped Marvel’s Doctor Strange last weekend in NYC, is returning to the UK for filming.

Sherlock Season 4 is expected to air in January 2017.
