Your favorite amphibian crime-fighters are back for more action and new adventures in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The brand new Nickelodeon series reintroduces the world’s most fearsome fighting team, now with all new weapons and previously undiscovered powers — they’ll use those to take on the evil Foot Clan as well as some other never-before-seen villains.
Here’s what you need to know about the headlining heroes on Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Raph
Raph is a snapping turtle and the older brother of the group. And like most older brothers, he’s the one in charge. He’s also the biggest, so he’s more likely to use his fists than his brain to get out of a scrape. And when his fists fail, he falls back on his powerful tonfas to make up the difference. In emergencies, he can break out the mystical Smash-Jitsu to become even more powerful… as long as it doesn’t backfire on him.
Leo
The rebel of the group, Leo is a red-eared slider who relies on his cleverness as much as his fighting ability. He wields a mighty Ōdachi sword that has some surprises inside its shining steel. If Leo or his brothers need a quick exit from a tough situation, all he has to do is tap into his sword’s portal powers. They can get him and the rest of the Turtles out of danger. Of course, it takes practice to perfect mystical portal-making skills. And Leo’s doors don’t always have a happy landing on the other side.
Mikey
Mikey’s the youngest of the Ninja Turtles, and he likes to have fun. He’s an artist and never met a surface he didn’t want to cover with stickers. His kusari-fundo weapon transforms into a powerful whip when he turns on its mystical mode. The ball at the end, like the carefree box turtle who wields it, goes a little wacky. It can wrap up enemies or go in any direction … even in midair. The usual rules of physics don’t apply, but that’s okay because Mikey’s not big on rules, himself.
Donnie
Tech-wiz softshell turtle Donnie doesn’t put much stock in mystic powers like his brothers do. He’s more comfortable with computers and gadgets. So he’s the only Turtle who doesn’t have any supernatural abilities in his weapon. Instead, his custom Tech-Bo staff is packed with gear and features to take care of any situation. He also wears a variety of self-designed Battle Shells that back up his fighting stick with everything he needs to fight evil and look stylish doing it.
