If you’re as old a Pokémon player as myself, you’ll remember the long wait for new Pokémon in between Pokémon Red/Blue and Gold/Silver. During the wait, we got teases of future monsters on the anime, including Misty’s cute hatchling Togepi and the pre-evolution of Pikachu, Pichu. It looks like Pokémon Go is ready to continue that with its most recent update. Welcome to Pokémon Go Togepi, Pichu, and select others!

How You Can Get Togepi and Pichu Right Now

Many may have hoped today would be the full launch of Gen II in Pokémon Go. Instead, it looks like developer Niantic and The Pokémon Company are taking a more gradual approach. Right now, the app will only be releasing a handful of Gen II monsters, all via eggs found at Pokéstops.

So, to add the Pokémon Go Togepi or Pichu to your collection, you’re going to need to stock up on incubators and get to walking. As the announcement video says, Pokémon Go isn’t limited to just those two, but also “select others.” Based on what some folks are hatching on Twitter, the others are also the baby versions of Gen I monsters. That includes Cleffa and Igglybuff, as this one account revealed.

How many more could there be? And how long will this slow rollout of new Pokémon go until you see a Feraligator in the wild? Perhaps not until the new year, as Pokémon Go has already revealed its holiday gift.

Santa Pikachu Is Coming To Town

Also to be found in the wild from today until Dec. 29 is a special version of Pikachu. Yes, much like Malibu Stacy, the electric mouse got a new hat! This version of Pikachu is lurking out there somewhere, so keep your eyes peeled while you do holiday shopping or are shuttling around the airport.

Does the gradual addition of Gen II Pokémon to Pokémon Go send you running back to the app? Or are you waiting for when all of the Gold/Silver beasts can be found in the wild? And what about those legendaries, huh? Guess we’ll have to wait and see if Pokémon Go has one more last minute presents in mind.
