Few people have worked more with Johnny Depp than Martin Klebba. The actor, who played Marty the Pirate opposite Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow, appeared in four of the five Pirates of the Caribbean films.

The latest, entitled Dead Men Tell No Tales, is the most action-packed yet. FANDOM caught up with Klebba recently to talk about the film and what it’s like with Depp on set.

Klebba’s most memorable scene in Pirates of the Caribbean 5 was the bank heist, where Captain Jack and company literally rip a vault out of a bank with a pack of horses.

“They were really well trained,” Klebba said of the animals in the ambitious action scene. “We didn’t have a whole lot to worry about.”

Animals costars are a major part of the Pirates franchise.

“In every film we’ve done with animals — whether it be the dog the monkey or the parrot and now the horses — they’ve all been great,” Klebba added.

And of course, we had to ask Klebba about another costar … Johnny Depp.

“He doesn’t get tired of doing Captain Jack,” Klebba revealed. “He’s fresh all the time … he gives you 110% every time.”

Any Depp fan knows this to be true; in addition to playing Captain Jack in five films since 2003, Depp performs at children’s hospitals and even surprised guests playing Sparrow on the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disneyland!

Relive the bank heist below and pick up Dead Men Tell No Tales out on Blu-ray this week!
