Horror fans, this one’s for you! If you have ever read a Stephen King novel or seen any films based on his works, like IT, you are in for a treat. The acclaimed horror author has teamed up with Star Wars and Star Trek producer JJ Abrams for a new series called Castle Rock.

The first trailer for the series debuted during Superbowl LII, which you can watch above.

Shawshank and More

The new Stephen King shared universe series 'Castle Rock' debuted its first trailer during Superbowl 52, featuring a reference to Shawshank Prison.

The trailer features a murderer’s row of Stephen King references, locations and characters. For instance, the show’s lead character, Henry Deaver, gets a phone call from an inmate in Shawshank Prison — Shawshank Prison being the location of the Academy Award winning film Shawshank Redemption. That inmate is played by Bill Skarsgård, you may recognize him as the actor who also played Pennywise in 2017’s hit horror film IT.

Deaver’s adoptive mother Ruth is played by actress Sissy Spacek, who previously played the title role in Carrie, the teen horror film based on King’s book of the same name. Ruth is in a relationship with one of King’s most recognizable characters, Alan Pangborn. Pangborn is the Sheriff of Castle Rock and has appeared in both Needful Things and The Dark Half books.

Castle Rock will be released as a 10-episode series on Hulu this summer.
