Marvel has just dropped a new trailer for Black Panther, and we could not be more stoked for it. The trailer is stuffed with action, stunts, effects, Easter eggs and other astonishing moments. From Danai Gurira’s kickass Okoye to Chadwick Boseman’s no-nonsense Black Panther — and his incredible costume — it’s a true showcase for director Ryan Coogler’s vision.

Taking a very different approach to Taika Waititi’s more humorous Thor: Ragnarok,  Black Panther promises a bit of a tonal shift, with the trailer suggesting a focus on badassery and the serious business of action.

Some of the highlights from the trailer (aside from Okoye and the amazing Black Panther costume) include some sick weaponry, futuristic vehicles, and the kingdom of Wakanda itself which looks like no place else you’ve ever seen on screen. And that’s not to mention Andy Serkis’s bad guy, who looks like a tough — and, dare we say it, three-dimensional — villain. We’re seriously impressed.

The story picks up after the events of Captain America: Civil War with King T’Challa having returned home to Wakanda, a closely guarded nation rich in the rare and valuable element, vibranium. He finds his country under threat by not only an outsider but also from within as his leadership is challenged. He calls on those closest to him, including the Dora Milaje — a band of highly trained women soldiers — and joins forces with the CIA’s Everett K. Ross to tackle the threat and prevent war on a massive scale.

The film also stars Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis. Black Panther hits screens in the UK on February 9, 2018 and the US on February 16, 2018.
