My Little Pony made the jump from the small screen to the big screen last fall with My Little Pony: The Movie.

In the film, Princess Twilight Sparkle (Tara Strong) embarks on a journey to save Ponyville from the evil Storm King (Liev Schreiber) and his lieutenant Tempest Shadow (Emily Blunt).

Twilight Sparkle is joined by her squad, the Mane 6: Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rarity. Their adventures take them beyond Equestria to the undersea kingdom of Seaquestria. Among the new characters they encounter are include the parrot pirate Captain Celaeno (Zoe Saldana) and Princess Skystar (Kristin Chenoweth), a seapony.

To celebrate the release of My Little Pony: The Movie on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, and On Demand January 9, FANDOM has the exclusive, never-been-seen prologue to the film. In the clip, fans meet Princess Twilight Sparkle, whose introduction is crashed by the villainous Tempest Shadow.

Behind the Scenes Secrets

FANDOM also caught up with Tara Strong to talk about her experience working on the film, and what to expect from Season 8 of the animated TV series, Friendship is Magic.

FANDOM: How did you react when you read the script and saw the adventure was going under the sea?

Strong: I’m crazy for mermaids so the idea of us becoming sea ponies was completely exciting and I knew they sell a billion toys. I thought it was adorable and big and worthy of a feature [film].

FANDOM: Did you have any interaction with the guest actors?

Strong: My favorite sighting was Kristin Chenoweth. I met her and flipped out because I’ve completely been obsessed with her since Wicked. She was just the sweetest thing ever. I’m 5’2 and she made me feel really tall. I think she did a fantastic job; not all successful actors that have never done voiceover can jump in and really kill it, and I thought they all did. It’s sad that we don’t get to work together, but that’s typical of any animated feature.

FANDOM: What scene are you excited for fans to see for Season 8?

Strong: I’m not allowed to say! I can guarantee you there will be a lot of cuteness!

FANDOM: If any of your guest stars from the movie could appear in the TV series, who would you want to see?

Strong: I think it would be great to have Kristin back. Any of them would be welcome back and it would make sense on the show.

My Little Pony: The Movie is available Tuesday, while Season 8 of Friendship is Magic will debut this year.
