Mr. Sinister is the Villain in ‘Wolverine 3’

It’s been rumored for some time now, but confirmation has finally arrived. Wolverine 3 – possibly to be titled Old Man Logan – will feature Mister Sinister as the main antagonist. The actor who will be playing this iconic villain? Richard E. Grant, who has recently been seen on Game of Thrones as the actor Izembaro.

This news broke after X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer revealed on that film’s commentary track that Mister Sinister would be appearing in the third Wolverine film. This was hinted at during the post-credits tease when a briefcase marked “Essex Corp” made an appearance. Nathanial Essex is the former moniker of Mister Sinister, so fans were already on top of this news. Grant had already been cast as a mad scientist, and now it’s been confirmed that he’ll be playing the vampire-esque villain.

Who is Mister Sinister?

Mister Sinister is one of the most famous adversaries of the X-Men. Interestingly, his obsession has always been centered around Scott Summers and his family, but the movies have always been willing to play around with established continuity. What will be more interesting to see adapted is Mister Sinister’s distinctive look; his costume and design are very comic book-y, especially if you only remember him from the ’90s X-Men animated series.

Still, this is an exciting day for fans. How Mister Sinister will be integrated into Wolverine’s final story – or at least, Hugh Jackman’s last time performing the character – should be intriguing. Mister Sinister isn’t present in the original comic version of Old Man Logan, so it should be enticing to see how he’ll be utilized.

We’ll find out when the third Wolverine film releases on March 3. Seeing as how that date is rapidly approaching, you can expect news of a trailer to be hitting shortly. The release of X-Men: Apocalypse on home video will probably signify a trailer is coming soon.
