Matt Groening Bringing New Show to Netflix

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that The Simpsons and Futurama creator Matt Groening is developing a new animated series for Netflix. What’s the show about? We don’t know yet, but we’re hearing that Netflix is interested in picking up two 10-episode seasons. A Groening show would be a welcome addition to Netflix’s growing collection of original animated content. And at Netflix, the restrictions inherent to network television wouldn’t hinder Groening’s sense of humor or imagination, so there’s great potential here. I’ll be very interested in who’s gonna fill out the writing staff, because Groening’s shows have boasted some of the funniest writing (and writers) in modern television. Here’s hoping that continues.

The Simpsons and Futurama fandoms are still incredibly devoted to their shows, despite Futurama‘s definitive finale and The Simpsons‘ recent decline. The Simpsons Wikia community currently stands at a whopping 18,276 pages and counting.
