‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’s New Patch Finally Lets Ryder Bang the Hunkiest Alien

The biggest problem with Mass Effect: Andromeda (for me at least, there were a ton of problems) was that for a game set 2.5 million light years away in the far future, my Scott Ryder, as a gay man, could only shack up with two rando human dudes.

Like seriously, Bioware, not to be crass, but I’m here for alien wangs.

I was not alone in this sentiment, and thankfully Bioware listened. The newest patch 1.08 for Mass Effect: Andromeda adds multiple new features like expanded character creator options, and also a brand new male romance option for Scott Ryder: the gravely voiced, heart on his sleeve, angara teammate, Jaal Ama Darav.

This is an excellent choice not only because Jaal is one of the more interesting characters in Mass Effect: Andromeda, but also because it adds a proper crew member as a male-male romance option, one of the aspects lacking in the game.

Plus, according to Bioware, this change better fits with the angara as a species.

We consulted with members of the LGBTQ community, both externally and within our own studios. After carefully considering all feedback, we decided this was an important change to make, and one that made sense for Jaal, Scott, and the angara.

You can check out the full details of the new Mass Effect: Andromeda patch on the Bioware blog. Now if you’ll excuse me I have a handsome alien to bed.
