Mario and Rabbids Team Up for a Gun-Filled Battle Game You Never Asked For

When Mario and his crew of mustachioed weirdos and princesses teamed up with the technicolor animal parade of Sonic the Hedgehog for a series of Olympics-themed games, we were like “Ok, that’s fine.” It was cool to see two superstars of gaming team up. But where do you go from there? If you said “Hey, why don’t they team up with those annoying, identical, nameless Minions-for-furries known as the Rabbids?” well then, THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT.

As Kotaku reported earlier, Nintendo and Ubisoft are teaming up for a crossover battle game, complete with arm cannon lasers. Today, official artwork leaked for Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, showing us the zany antics we can expect from this team-up between gaming’s most powerful family, and a bunch of screaming idiot bunnies.

Now to be fair, we’re here for a game where Mario runs around with an arm canon straight out of Mega Man. Even though it goes against the very nature of Mario. Creator Shigeru Miyamoto has specifically talked about how guns are not right for the Mario universe, so this direction in Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is a bit of a head scratcher.

Chances are we’ll learn more about this unholy union at E3 2017 next month. Until them, gaze in horror at the Rabbid dressed as Peach, taking a selfie in the middle of a battle (because sure, let’s throw a little misogyny in there too, right boys?).
