‘MacGruber 2’ Is Being Written

MacGruber is destined to become a comedy classic. The SNL skit started as a wacky parody of MacGyver but the film became so much more. It’s vile, absurd, and possibly one of the funniest movies of the last decade. Fans have been dying for a sequel and today brings good news on that front.

Jorma Taccone and Will Forte have begun writing the script for MacGruber 2. Don’t believe me? Feast your peepers on this treat from Taccone’s Twitter.

What’s in store for the sequel? Your guess is as good as mine. Hopefully, we’ll see the return of former cast members Kristen Wiig and Ryan Phillippe. Sadly, we probably won’t be seeing Val Kilmer return as the diabolical Dieter Von Cunth. But, you never know! If they want to go all Crank 2: High Voltage and put Cunth’s head in a jar, it wouldn’t be beyond reason for this series.

We have to assume that the sequel is going to be even bigger and crazier than its predecessor. Will MacGruber be sent into space? Will he have the opportunity to blow up a colony on the moon? Will he teach someone else that infamous celery trick?

It’s hard to explain why MacGruber is so fantastic without getting far too vulgar for this site’s guidelines. Suffice to say, you are doing a disservice if you haven’t seen it yet. No word exactly on when the sequel will start production, but things will probably move pretty fast. Forte has still got the wonderful The Last Man on Earth over at Fox, so you have to figure they plan to shoot after he breaks in between shooting the next season. This sequel can’t get here fast enough. The world is a dark and scary place, and we need MacGruber to save us. And cougar growls. We need more cougar growls.
