SPOILER ALERT: Warning, this article contains minor spoilers for Legends of Tomorrow Season 4. Proceed with caution.

During San Diego Comic-Con, the cast of Legends of Tomorrow spoke about what’s next for the show. Season 3 saw the Legends traveling through time to fight the demon Mallus and their old foe Damien Darhk (Neil McDonough). And with a little help from Beebo, they defeated the demon. However, in doing so they released “Fugitives” — magical creatures from myths, fairy tales, and legends.

Now, along with the newest team member John Constantine (Matt Ryan), the Legends must once again set things right. Although having unicorns running around doesn’t actually seem all that bad compared to some of the other things they’ve dealt with. Now, they must deal with new characters and budding romances.

Legends of Tomorrow

Legends of Tomorrow is a show that is especially good at reinventing itself. After four seasons, only three of the series’ original cast members remain. This season will see Nate (Nick Zano) leaving the Waverider (temporarily) to spend some time in the real world.

He’ll be working on repairing his relationship with his estranged father, played by Back to the Future star Tom Wilson. “Nate started off as a real-life person who became a superhero, so it’s nice that we get to go back to the origins of Nate,” says Zano. With the introduction of Nate’s dad, fans will get more “insights [into] Nate’s history.”

This season will also see Maise Richardson-Sellers playing a new character, Charlie — one of the magical characters the Legends have let loose. The trickster, who the group runs into on their journey, shakes up the dynamic on the ship. Also, having the Legends go on their own journeys and play different characters is a great way to keep the show fresh.

Love Blooms on the Waverider

Legends of Tomorrow

Season 4 will see a more domestic side of Sara (Caity Lotz) as she tries to settle down with Ava (Jes Macallan). “It’s the first time Sara has had something really real,” Caity Lotz says. “Sara and Ava are in a really good place.” Both characters will reveal their softer sides as they develop their relationship further. The couple continues to be one of the most important in the Arrowverse due to its authenticity and representation.

#Avalance isn’t the only ship on Legends this season. Married couple Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford teased their character’s attraction as well. Ray and Nora will be exploring the connection they felt last season, especially now that Nora is free from all entanglements.

For the first time in her life, Nora is not controlled by a demon or her father. She is free to choose her own path. With Ray more than willing to teach her the ways of the light side, it could be a great way for the characters to bond and build more than just a spark.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season 4 premieres Monday, October 22, 2018, at 9 p.m. on the CW.
