At long last—thanks to this year’s Star Wars Celebration event—we finally have the first teaser for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the long-awaited follow-up to 2015’s The Force Awakens. While this first look at The Last Jedi doesn’t offer too much substance, there’s still a lot for the Star Wars faithful to sink their teeth into. For one, we see this new film will feature Rey training with Luke—a plot point set up at the very end of The Force Awakens. But we also learn that Luke seeks to dissolve the Jedi order, which stands as a pretty big shake-up to the status quo of the Star Wars universe.
Even with these basic plot elements established, The Last Jedi’s teaser still presents plenty of mysteries for curious Star Wars fans. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait for the official trailer to find out what waits for Luke, Rey, and the rest in this next Star Wars sequel. Its release date of December 15th may seem incredibly far away right now, but, from what we’ve seen so far, The Last Jedi could be the best holiday gift 2017 gives us.
