La La Land won big at this year’s BAFTAs, though the movie didn’t quite sweep the board as it’s expected to at the Oscars come the end of the month. The acclaimed musical picked up five awards, including best film, best director for Damien Chazelle, and best actress for Emma Stone.

Elsewhere the BAFTAs were spread across numerous movies, with Casey Affleck winning best actor for Manchester by the Sea, Viola Davis best supporting actress for Fences, and Dev Patel supporting actor for Lion.

Lion and Manchester by the Sea won the adapted and original screenplay prizes respectively, while I, Daniel Blake was best British film, Son of Saul best foreign film, and Kubo and the Two Strings best animated film.

And spanning the generations, new Spider-Man Tom Holland – who is 20-years-old – was named Rising Star, while 90-year-old Mel Brooks was given the BAFTA fellowship.
