John Cena is the latest wrestler to start making his mark on the big screen, following in the footsteps of the enormously successful Dwayne Johnson and Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista, among others.
Following successful turns in Amy Schumer vehicle Trainwreck and Tina Fey/Amy Poehler comedy Sisters, as well as Daddy’s Home and its sequel, Cena switches one ring for another, supplying the voice of Ferdinand the bull in a new animated feature. Ferdinand is based on the classic children’s book and follows the exploits of a bull forced into the ring to face a champion matador, even though he doesn’t want to fight.
Cena has also made his mark on smaller screens – as the star of countless memes. Arguably one of the most memed (is that a word? It is now) people in the world, John Cena is very aware of his status. One of the more popular subjects for memes about the WWE star and actor include his famous taunt “You can’t see me”, which meme makers like to take literally.
FANDOM figuratively threw Cena into the ring with those same meme makers, showing him a bunch of the best memes about himself. Then we sat back and let him react. The results? Hilarious. See for yourself when you watch John Cena take on John Cena memes in the video above.
Meanwhile, check out the synopsis for Cena’s new film Ferdinand below:
After being mistaken for a dangerous beast, Ferdinand is captured and torn from his home. Determined to return to his family, he rallies a misfit team on the ultimate adventure. Set in Spain, Ferdinand proves you can’t judge a bull by its cover.
From Carlos Saldanha (the Ice Age and Rio franchises) and inspired by the beloved book by Munro Leaf and Robert Lawson, Ferdinand is a heartwarming animated comedy adventure from Blue Sky Studios that tells the story of a giant bull with a big heart. John Cena (Trainwreck, Daddy’s Home) leads an all-star cast that includes Kate McKinnon (Finding Dory, Ghostbusters, The Angry Birds Movie), Gina Rodriguez (Deepwater Horizon, Jane the Virgin), Anthony Anderson (Black-ish, Transformers), David Tennant (Broadchurch, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Doctor Who), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’s Baby, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Bridget Jones’s Diary) and many more.
Ferdinand hits screens in the UK from December 9 in the US on December 15.
