Interview: ‘LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures’

The newest addition to the LEGO Star Wars universe introduces a new set of characters and big adventures. LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures is a new Disney XD series set in between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and centers on the Freemaker siblings, who pick up spare ship parts across the galaxy to use in their salvage and repair shop. The trio includes gearhead Zander (Eugene Byrd), brains of the operation Kordi (Vanessa Lengies), and adventurous and Force-sensitive Rowan (Nicholas Cantu), and they are accompanied by a refurbished B1 battle droid R0-GR or Roger (Matthew Wood), who has a penchant for baking cookies. When Rowan discovers the Kyber Saber, an ancient artifact of the Jedi, the Freemakers are thrown into a battle of good vs. evil. Since the storyline takes place in the original trilogy, expect to see some familiar faces to appear alongside clever LEGO humor throughout the season.

We chatted with the voice talent who brought the Freemakers to life about going to work in pajamas, being good looking LEGO characters, and having compassion for battle droids. See what they had to say below.

Eugene Byrd (Zander)

Vanessa Lengies (Kordi)

Nicholas Cantu (Rowan)

Matthew Wood (R0-GR)

LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures premieres June 20 at 10 a.m. EST on Disney XD. During premiere week, a new episode will debut each day from June 20 through June 23.
