Now that the game is out and we can see the full Injustice 2 character roster in all its glory, it’s time to start speculating about which other fighters will be joining the fray during the game’s lifetime. Yes, we’re talking about Injustice 2 DLC characters.

So far, developer NetherRealm has confirmed three of the incoming DLC fighters – Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat, Red Hood and Starfire – but there is allegedly a whole raft of DC fighters inbound. Like the original Injustice, there are nine DLC characters en route and if we already know three of them, who could the rest be?

It’s also worth bearing in mind that there is at least one guest character coming for Injustice 2 as well.

Here we take a look at the all the leaks and teases that are doing the rounds already and the three that have already been confirmed:

Sub-Zero

Sub-Zero

If you’re a fighting game fan, you’ll know that Sub-Zero is one of the biggest icons of the Mortal Kombat series that has made Netherrealm famous. This ice-cold ninja has appeared in various forms and now he’s making his way into Injustice 2 as part of the first wave of DLC.

It’s not the first time he’s fought some DC characters though as he fought the Justice League in Mortal Kombat vs DC.

Red Hood

Red Hood

The Batman comics have set up Red Hood as one of the Dark Knight’s oldest enemies, but also one of the most complex. Originally appearing ine 1940 as an alias for Joker, Red Hood was eventually resurrected in the mid-2000s as the formerly dead Robin, Jason Todd and returns to kill Joker himself.

It could be seriously interesting to get those two in the ring.

Starfire

Starfire

Starfire‘s the first female DC character for the Injustice 2 DLC and she’s one of the more interesting entries. She’s one of the more friendly heroes, but still immensely strong and is gifted with the power of flight and energy projection too.

Apparently, Starfire’s Super Move is the most epic of all the characters to date, with hers going supernova in space.

Aside from these pre-confirmed characters, here are the most likely characters to feature and why:

Spawn

spawn dc

We’re thinking Spawn might be one of the faces from outside the DC Universe to appear in Injustice 2 DLC. He appeared in a character poll sent out by NetherRealm, which also featured Starfire – just to add fuel to the fire.

If you’re unfamiliar with Spawn, he featured in the crossover comics Batman/Spawn done by DC Comics and Image Comics, which simply paired the two popular characters. Spawn is a Hellspawn sent to Earth to deliver evil souls to hell and he’s capable of tapping into the enigmatic Necroplasm as well as taking on the powers of evil creatures like worms, bats and wolves.

John Constantine

John Constantine DC comics

Like Starfire and Spawn, John Constantine appeared in a poll in the summer of 2016 that NetherRealm put out, suggesting that he could be one of the fighters arriving in Injustice 2 DLC later this year.

Constantine is an occult detective and professional sorcerer from good old Blighty. He’s rather foul-mouthed and chain smokes and is a very well-known Vertigo Universe character from the Hellblazer series. He’s also a member of the Justice League Dark, which fits very nicely indeed with the other characters in the Injustice 2 roster.

Black Manta

Black Manta DC Comics

Black Manta is another character that was featured in that poll, so is high up on the list of predicted Injustice 2 DLC characters.

He’s actually one of Aquaman’s greatest villains, so don’t be put off by his buggy appearance. It’s actually a lethal high-tech suit that allows him to survive underwater and comes with an arsenal of destructive weaponry. To this day, his origins and identity are shrouded in secrecy but he does have a serious hatred of the sea for “emotional reasons”.

Hellboy

Hellboy DC Characters

Not only did Ed Boon himself feature Hellboy in one of his Twitter polls, he also teased the character in one of his direct replies in an Injustice 2 DLC characters thread.

We’d love to see Hellboy in Injustice 2, mostly for the fact he has superhuman abilities from his demonic heritage. Hand-to-hand combat is his forte and we’d love to see how he’d pulverise his opponents in the ring.

Lex Luthor

Lex Luthor DC Comics

We’re going out on a bit of a limb here, but we guess that Lex Luthor might make an appearance in Injustice 2 as well – perhaps not suited and booted though. We reckon NetherRealm, DC and Warner Bros will be looking for tie-ins to upcoming movies, so Luthor could be the one for the Justice League film coming out later this year.

Luthor is both a hyper-intelligent scientist and billionaire, and a supervillain and Superman’s greatest enemy. He’s ruthless and efficient and would make a great character for Injustice 2 DLC. He’s already been a member of the Injustice Gang, the Injustice League and more, he’ll fit fight in.

Ares

Ares DC comics

Like Lex Luthor, Ares could be another movie tie-in, although this guy is connected to the Wonder Woman film out this summer.

Based on the Greek God of the same name, Ares is one of the main antagonists of the Wonder Woman comics and has plagued the heroine for decades. He possesses incredible strength, has virtually indestructible armour and can actually regenerate his physical being into any form as well as being able to teleport.

Rorschach

Rorschach DC Comics

Although quite a few Watchmen characters have been rumoured for Injustice 2 DLC characters, it’s currently our favourite, Rorschach, that’s coming out on top.

Rorschach, aka Walter Kovacs, is one of the members of the Crimebusters but continues his battle against crime long after vigilantes of the caped crusader types are ruled illegal. He’d be a great character because he uses everyday objects as weapons, such as hair spray, cooking fat and even a toilet. Of course, he’s also got a more traditional arsenal including a gas-powered grappling hook, which could be a neat way of getting the match up close and personal in Injustice 2.
