Ahead of the release of Middle-earth: Shadow of War, FANDOM got a chance to catch up with Troy Baker and Laura Bailey who play two key characters in the game.

Troy Baker is reprising his role as hero Talion, the ranger who plans to stop Sauron before the events of Lord of the Rings – which, of course, he fails to do. Middle-earth: Shadow of War and its predecessor, Shadow of Mordor are set between the events of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, so there’s going to be plenty of familiar faces and characters.

Baker is also acting as the game’s performance capture director, probably because of all his experience in voice acting and motion capture over the years. He’s portrayed iconic roles including Joel from The Last of Us, Booker DeWitt from BioShock Infinite, Delsin from Infamous Second Son, The Joker in Batman Arkham Origins and even Sam Drake in Uncharted 4.

Laura Bailey is getting an upgrade from a bit part in the Shadow of Mordor for Shadow of War with her role of Eltariel, The Blade of Galadriel, a mysterious figure who can also see the ghost of Celebrimbor.

But more importantly, we put Troy Baker and Laura Bailey to the test to see how many Lord of the Rings character impressions they can nail.

We put them to the test, asking them to do their best impersonations of some classic characters including Gimli, Gollum and even Legolas.

When Shadow of War comes out on October 13 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, you’ll find the game offers a richer, more personal and expansive world full of epic heroes and villains, iconic locations, original enemy types, more personalities and a new cast of characters with untold stories.
