Every teen thinks their parents are evil, but what if you found out they actually were? That’s the gist of Marvel’s Runaways comic, and now it’s the basis for a new TV series adapted from the comic coming to Hulu. Marvel has just announced the Runaways cast, so let’s take a closer look at the upcoming show.

Runaways is the story of six teens who team up after learning their parents are part of a nefarious group called The Pride, made up of crime bosses, evil wizards, mad scientists, alien overlords, mind-reading mutants, time-travelers and more.

But what about the good guys? Here’s how the cast and characters of Marvel’s Runaways breakdown…

Meet the Runaways

Rhenzy Feliz as Alex Wilder

Portrayed by Rhenzy Feliz, who you may recognize from his roles in Teen Wolf and Casual, Alex Wilder is described as a “loud-and-proud-nerd.” A  hard-core gamer, and a loner, Hulu is keeping this character quite comic-accurate. In fact, comic Alex is considered a genius by many, kept himself at a distance from the other Runaways, and even aspired to make video games when he grew up.

If they keep the rest of this character accurate, you can expect not just a genius-level intellect, but quite a range of magic, everything from teleportation to banishment powers.

Lyrica Okano as Nico Minoru

Tough. Intelligent. Independant. Those are all the qualities of Nico Minoru, who will be portrayed by Lyrica Okano. Considered a “good” witch, she is a beginner Wiccan who is described as having a “carefully crafted goth appearance.”

Another comic-accurate character, her comic powers are predominantly magic based. This arsenal includes flight, telekinesis, and even teleportation.

Virginia Garder as Karolina Dean

Virginia Garder’s character seems to be the first character on the roster thus far to abandon their comic origins. While Hulu’s Karolina Dean is a stunning model, comic book Karolina is an alien from another planet. Because of this, we can expect to be a wild card when it comes to powers. Fans will have to wait and see just what Karolina has to offer.

Ariela Barer as Gert Yorkes

Ariela Barer’s character seems to be sticking to comic origins, at least in appearance. Gerk Yorkes is described as purple-haired and a contemporary riot girl. Gert, as compared to the other Runaways, is a bit unique. She has no special powers; she was born human.

However, she has a special protector. A genetically engineered dinosaur, Gertrude is telepathically and empathically linked to this creature. It’d be rather interesting to see how Hulu plays out this comic link. Will we see some sort of CGI dino, or will they drop this creature altogether?

Gregg Sulkin as Chase Stein

Gregg Sulkin will be playing “high school heartthrob” Chase Stein. A natural athlete, he is considered by many to be a “dumb jock,” but he also has a secret engineering brilliance.

In the comics, Chase is just like Gert, no powers, just a regular old human. However, Gert eventually transferred her physic link over to Chase, giving him the same telepathic bond with her dinosaur. We could possibly see some of this spill out onto the show, or Hulu might focus on Chase’s engineering aptitude for his contributions to the Runaways.

Allegra Acosta as Molly Hernandez

Allegra Acosta is the youngest member of the Runaways, Molly Hernandez. She is described as “peppy,” and having a deep yearning to belong. While her last name is new, she shares a first name with a comic Runaway, Molly Hayes — it’s surely the same character. She’s powered with super strength and invulnerability, but when she uses her powers, she glows pink.

Marvel’s Runaways has no set release date, but you can expect it to make its debut on Hulu sometime in 2018.
