Henry Cavill is no stranger to controversy. But it’s perhaps what he refers to as “moustache-gate” that is his most controversial moment. While shooting Mission: Impossible – Fallout, in which his character August Walker sports a rather fetching bit of lip fuzz, he was called in to take part in some re-shoots for Justice League as Superman. Contractually obliged to keep the ‘tache for Fallout, the decision was made to remove his bristly upper lip digitally. Resulting in mass hysteria from the internet which collectively laughed at the slightly off-looking attempt at computer wizardry.
Cavill isn’t averse to laughing at himself, and — good sport that he is — bid farewell to the real thing in a video he posted on Instagram. Once Mission: Impossible – Fallout had wrapped, of course. In it, he even referenced the digital removal.
With all this in mind, FANDOM played a little game called ‘Guess the Moustache’ with Cavill, in which he had to hold up a series of famous moustaches on sticks to his face, and name the face to which they belonged. We MAY have thrown in a certain Man of Steel’s infamous skin moustache, too…

In Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Henry Cavill plays August Walker, a CIA assassin whose moral compass is a bit off. When a mission goes awry, Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt finds himself thrown together with Walker as he attempts to track down some plutonium cores and halt a significant nuclear threat at the hands of the mysterious John Lark. Returning villain Solomon Lane is also involved and Hunt must battle former allies and the finger of suspicion in order to save the day — as well as those he loves.
Mission: Impossible – Fallout hits screens in the UK on July 25th, the US on July 27th and Australia on August 2nd.
