It’s an exciting time to be a Harry Potter fan. Whether it’s more Fantastic Beasts movies on the way, frequent Harry Potter Weekends on Freeform, or Wizarding World theme parks, we truly live in a magical time. Now add Broadway to the mix! Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is coming to New York City on April 22, 2018 at Lyric Theatre.

The play has been a smash hit in London, and even earned a record nine Olivier Awards, which are basically the U.K.’s version of the Tony Awards. NBD, right?

Naturally, Potter fans have freaked out over the news, but that excitement was met immediately with the hard truth that New York City is super far away and pretty damn expensive. So let’s walk through these emotions together, shall we?

When Pottermore announced Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is coming to New York City, THAT’S AMERICA YOU GUYS, every muggle rejoiced. MOAR POTTER! Thank Merlin.

But then you realized how far away NYC is. And how expensive Broadway is. And how poor you are.

But that didn’t stop you from texting your Potterhead BFF and making plans anyway.

YOU: OMG Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is coming to Broadway in April 2018!

BFF: We’re going.

YOU: I have no money.

BFF: Same.

YOU: F*ck it, let’s go anyway.

BFF: This is why we’re best friends.

YOU: Buying my flight. Get the seat by me.

BFF: Done and done.

YOU: I’m eating ramen until April.

BFF: Gonna Weasley the sh*t out of my life.

FAST FORWARD TO APRIL 2018.
