A new Godzilla 4D attraction has been announced and is coming to Universal Studios Japan. The attraction will open on Jan. 13, 2017. The park announced on Aug. 1 that it plans to open Godzilla: The Real 4D, a multi-sensory experience based on the hit franchise.

Since Godzilla’s inception in 1954, the series’ total attendance of all 31 installments is more than 1 billion people across the globe. It is registered on the “Hollywood Walk of Fame” as a Japanese character, a proud symbol of the overwhelming worldwide popularity of the monumental work of one of the most beloved monster movie franchises on the planet.

In a translated press release earlier this week, Universal Studios Japan shared a few details on what people have to look forward to when the attraction opens to the public next year.

Visitors to the Japanese theme park attraction can expect to experience the “thrills, mania, and excitement” of “an unimaginable battle” with an enormous version of the infamous monster. Inside a theater-style building, guests will watch an immersive film showing Godzilla rampaging through a city, the press release said. Godzilla: The Real 4D allows visitors to “confront fear and despair” as they come face-to-face with the almost 400-foot tall monster.

The 4D experience at Universal Studios Japan will be the first time the iconic character has appeared in a major theme park attraction.

The attraction’s location at the Osaka-based theme park is currently unknown, and word isn’t out yet as to whether it will be coming to the United States. In the meantime, keep checking your online park sites for more details.

Godzilla: Resurgence premiered in Japan a few days before the announcement. The film will have a limited release in U.S. theaters later this year.
