Game of Thrones announced today that winter is coming this summer with Season 7 officially starting July 16. Pause for fan-screaming.

Unsurprisingly, the internet freaked out with the news, but the real story is how they revealed the July release date. Here’s the breakdown.

The HBO fantasy giant prepped the announcement with a Facebook live stream of an ice block melting, so eager super geeks literally watched ice melt in anticipation of the news.

Fans were asked to type the word “Fire” to unlock the premiere date.

After a long, ice-melting wait, it finally worked, revealing July 16.
