SPOILER ALERT: Warning, this article contains spoilers from the Season 7, Episode 7 of Game of Thrones, entitled “The Dragon and The Wolf.” Proceed at your own risk.

The Season 7 finale of Game of Thrones was a major breaking point in the Great War.

The Night King and his army finally broke through The Wall, spilling into the Seven Kingdoms. And he did so with the help of a new ally.

As seen in the last episode, the Night King killed and resurrected Viserion, one of Daenerys Targaryen’s beloved dragons. It seems in undeath, Viserion maintained all the abilities he had in life, including flight. And a fearsome new ability: breathing blue fire.

Tormund saw thousands of wights emerge from the northern forests.

Tormund Giantsbane was manning The Wall at Eastwatch when he saw the Night King’s army of White Walkers and wights emerge from the forest. Then, Viserion — now with blue eyes and torn wings — emerged from the blizzard, with the Night King as his rider.

Viserion then breathed jets of blue flame into The Wall, causing it to melt and crumble. Many men died in the avalanche. But the greatest consequence was an entire side of The Wall collapsing, allowing the horde of undead to cross the breach — including undead giants and of course, the Night King and his new draconic mount.

Viserion breached the wall with his fiery breath.

Earlier in the episode, Dany estimated there were hundreds of thousands of undead. And while Cersei Lannister pledged the Lannister’s army’s help; she has no intention of keeping her word.

However, it does seem that her brother Jaime Lannister will keep his promise and join Jon Snow and Dany in their fight in the North. But even with two dragons and their armies, will they be outnumbered? Especially if the Lannisters end up betraying them and attacking them from the south.

All will be revealed in the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, which will come back in either 2018 or 2019.
