Sharknado 5: Global Swarming is a real thing that’s happening and it’s coming to the SyFy Network August 6th. Over 1,000 people filled auditorium 6 and heard from Ian Ziering, Tara Reid and many of the regular cast members of the franchise that just won’t “fin”-ish.

A Whirlwind of Cameos

It was the whirlwind of special guest cameos that stole the show at the San Diego Comic-Con panel. Gilbert Godfried, Greg Louganis, Kathy Lee Gifford, Al Roker, Charo and Bret Michaels all make appearances in the 5th incarnation of the syndicated movie sensation. However, this is just a drop in the ocean compared to the Jaws-dropping list of Global Swarming cameos.

’80s pop star and Grease icon, Olivia Newton-John, will make her first appearance in this fifth installment of the Sharknado series. The iconic entertainer makes sense for the franchise as her daughter, Chloe Lantazi is also in the film. The only question we have is will she be “Staying Alive”? Probably not.

The skateboarding superstar, Tony Hawk, makes his Sharknado debut as well, bringing the X-Games crowd with him. In the tradition of Vin Diesel’s XXX, we hope that Tony Hawk has an extreme impact on the film. Perhaps he could get eaten while skateboard jumping off a skyscraper. Maybe he’ll survive. Who knows? Either way, the crossover appeal makes him a favorite and bang on for the Sharknado demographic.

Fabio, the Italian model famous for his romance novel covers, is by far our favorite cameo in Sharknado 5. Just having the Fabio on screen would be enough, but him playing the Pope? It doesn’t get much better than this. Not many in attendance knew he was in the film so when he was announced, the crowd erupted. He once famously fought off a goose at an amusement park, so will his new found papacy be enough to fight off the sharks?

Sharkando Zombies?

Having released one quality Sharknado movie per year for the last five years, the full force of the Sharknado team doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. Producers are already talking of a Sharknado 6 with ideas floating around about time travel, zombies, and demon possession. Sure. In a Sharknado world, anything is possible.
