Early this morning, Fandom reported that the final trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was revealed. Now that we’ve had some time to analyze the magical new trailer, let’s break down some key “fantastic facts” to help get you ready for the movie premiere on November 18.

Fantastic Beasts is set in New York City in 1926, 70 years before the events of Harry Potter.

The story follows magizoologist Newt Scamander, a character J.K. Rowling created as part of the Potter backstory. His book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them became a standard textbook for students at Hogwarts.

The American version of the Ministry of Magic is known as the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA). It was first established in 1693 as a direct result of the Salem Witch Trials.

President of the MACUSA Seraphina Picquery finds a connection to Gellert Grindelwald, a powerful Dark Wizard responsible for the death of Albus Dumbledore‘s sister, Ariana. The connection insinuates that a civil war is brewing inside the Wizarding community.
