The first Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie is set to premiere in 2016, and Warner Bros. has finally given us something to obsess over until the full-length trailer comes out! An official poster and teaser trailer dropped on Dec. 12, and fans got their first glimpse of Eddie Redmayne in action as Newton Scamander. Let’s just say this trailer makes us nostalgic for Harry Potter and extremely excited for a new chapter in the Wizarding World from J.K. Rowling! If you’ve seen the teaser, continue on for five things we’re really looking forward to seeing in the upcoming trilogy.

Newt Getting In (and Out) of Trouble

The teaser starts off with Porpentina (played by Katherine Waterston) reporting a problem to the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA): Some of Newt’s fantastical creatures have accidentally escaped and are about to cause havoc for both the wizarding and muggle (No-Maj) worlds. It’s basically a more-magical Pokemon movie set in the Harry Potter universe, but we’re super-excited to see how he recaptures the beasts!

Porpentina/Newt Romance

Reminder: Porpentina eventually marries Newt and they have a long line of descendants that eventually connects to the Lovegoods when their grandson marries Luna. This trilogy is mostly going to be action (or so we think), but we’re hoping for some good old fashioned romance also. Now we just need a ‘ship name. Porpenewt? Newtina?

Wizards vs. No-Maj Drama

Fantastic Beasts is technically about Newt trying to recapture his escaped creatures before they create too much chaos in both magical and non-magical worlds, but there’s some pre-existing tension between wizards and No-Maj that’s getting exacerbated by pressures from a fanatical extremist group called the New Salem Philanthropic Society. We’re imagining these people are going to try and use his problem to further their own causes, and we’re interested in seeing how they go about it without magic.

Beasts, Beasts, and More Beasts!

We saw a lot of interesting magical creatures in the Harry Potter series, but Fantastic Beasts is bound to bring us a greater variety… and we can’t wait! Newt is the most famous magizoologist in wizarding history, and his book a No. 1 resource for magical creatures. The description on the book even says, “If Newt Scamander hasn’t found it, it’s not worth finding.” The scales we keep seeing pop up in promos just get us even more excited to see what fantastical creatures Warner Bros. will bring to life.

A Technically Old, but New to Us, Wizarding World

Let’s be honest. The Harry Potter ending left a giant hole in our hearts, and we’re extremely excited to go back to J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. Bonus: Fantastic Beasts takes place in 1926 so we aren’t going to see modern day clothes and technology like we saw in Harry Potter’s time. We LOVE a good costume drama, so we’re excited to see what fashions pop up!
