Channel Zero, “NoEnd House”

September 20 – (10/9c, Syfy)

SyFy’s horror anthology series Channel Zero is back, this time with a haunted house storyline that preys on people’s perfect fantasies and nightmares. When a young woman (Defiance‘s Amy Forsyth) goes into a haunted house, each room becomes increasingly more dangerous. The Channel Zero series derives from creepypastas, internet-based urban legend horror stories. This season, “NoEnd House” is based on a creepypasta about a heroine addict who attempted a series of haunted houses in his neighborhood. Whether true or urban legend, this season looks to be perfectly spooky series for the Halloween season.

Ghosted

October 1 – (8:30/7:30c, FOX) New

Ghosted looks like it could be the funniest new show of the Fall TV season. Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) and Craig Robinson (The Office) as an unlikely pair of paranormal alien hunters. This show parodies some of the best supernatural thrillers like The X-Files, Men in Black, and R.I.P.D. Scott and Robinson both join a task force called the Bureau Underground, where they team up to investigate a series of unexplained events. The series also stars Amber Stevens West (The Carmichael Show), Ally Walker (Colony) and Adeel Akhtar (Utopia) as the Underground’s crack team of paranormal experts. Whether they’re investigating ghosts, aliens, or something else entirely, this sitcom will perfectly into any horror fan’s Fall TV lineup.

Ghost Wars

October 5 – (10/9c, Syfy) New

Vincent D’Onofrio (Jurassic World, Daredevil) stars in this new paranormal thriller from SyFy. Set in the frozen tundra of Alaska, the small town of Port Moore is plagued with a mass haunting. D’Onofrio stars alongside Avan Jogia (Twisted), a psychic who must battle his own demons to harness his powers and save the town. With a tone that feels like a cross between Fargo and The Villagethis small-town thriller is sure to be a staple show for any horror fans this fall. Oh, and Meatloaf co-stars in the series. Sadly, his name is not Robert Paulson.

The Walking Dead

October 22 – (9/8c, AMC)

Negan was a force to be reckoned with in The Walking Dead Season 7 and the same can be said for Season 8. Negan is now regrouping and Rick‘s crew will once again have to find a way to “win” despite his threats. There’s also a cryptic flash forward in the trailer (linked above) which will be explained in the Season 8 premiere — which also happens to be the show’s 100th episode! Why is Rick in a hospital bed? Is this some kind of alternate timeline, where we wakes up from his original coma and everything is fine? Is this a future time jump? Fandom breaks down some theories here, including the connection to the comics. Either way, we are hyped to see what’s in store for us this season — especially if we’ll get another fantastic showdown between Rick and Negan.

Stranger Things

October 27 – (Netflix)

Season 2 of Stranger Things hits Netflix just in time for Halloween, making it our top pick for best horror-inspired show to watch this fall. It’s all hallows eve in Hawkins and the Upside Down is primed to unleash something even darker than a demogorgon. Will may be home safe and sound, but he’s not quite himself. Eleven is gone, but she’s trying to find her way back. Hopper may have been on the side of the angels in Season 1, but something tells us he’s on a darker path now. When the Upside Down breaks loose, the kids of Hawkins will once again have to unite to stop it from destroying their entire town.
