Ghosted
October 1 – (8:30/7:30c, FOX) New
Ghosted stars Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) and Craig Robinson (The Office) as an unlikely pair of paranormal alien hunters. The series is a half hour sitcom that parodies supernatural thrillers like The X-Files, Men in Black, and Fringe. Together these comedy legends join a task force called the Bureau Underground, where they team up to investigate a series of unexplained events. Hailing from FOX, Ghosted could be the funniest new show of the Fall TV season.
The Gifted
October 2 – (9/8c, FOX) New
The Gifted follows the Strucker family, whose children have recently awakened their mutant powers. In this timeline, mutant powers are dangerous and seen as a threat, so the Strucker family must join the Mutant Underground. The MU is led by mutants like Thunderbird, Polaris, Eclipse, and Blink. This is a world where X-Men Days of Future Past‘s Sentinel Services won and mutants are hunted. The Gifted pilot was directed by X-Men‘s own Bryan Singer and is set to join the pantheon of current Marvel television properties this Fall TV season.
Dynasty
October 11 – (9/8c, The CW) New
Dynasty stars Melrose Place alum Grant Show as the family patriarch Blake Carrington. Carrington’s “heir to the empire” daughter is played by Nickelodeon star Elizabeth Gillies (Victorious). His wife-to-be is played by Nathalie Kelley (UnReal), who almost starred in NBC’s Cruel Intentions series. The CW’s Dynasty follows a similar storyline to the 220-episode original series: the wealthy Carrington children believe they will be the heirs to the family company and fortune, until their father marries his secretary. Dynasty is a perfect show to watch this Fall TV season for anyone who loves opulent dramatic nighttime soap operas.
Mindhunter
October 13 – (Netflix) New
In the vein of Silence of the Lambs and The Blacklist, Mindhunter follows the journey of two FBI agents who create a think tank of psychopaths. Special Agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench form a motley crew of murders to study the criminal mind. Set in 1979, this Netflix series is based on the non-fiction book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit — the book which directly influenced the Red Dragon Jack Crawford series. Mindhunter is executive produced by David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club) and Charlize Theron (Atomic Blonde, Mad Max Fury Road), and stars Jonathan Groff (Hamilton) and Anna Torv (Fringe).
The Last O.G.
October 24 – (10/9c, TBS) New
This is Tracy Morgan’s comeback! Three years after a tragic accident, Morgan is leading a new TBS series titled The Last O.G. In the series, Morgan plays Tray, an ex-con who was recently released after 15 years in prison. Morgan’s character will provide a running commentary on the borough’s gentrified transformation. He’ll also face the challenges of getting a new job, going back to his old ways, and meeting his children for the first time. The Last O.G. stars Cedric the Entertainer and hits TBS this October.
