Former Doctor Who star Karen Gillan has been talking about the casting of Jodie Whittaker as The Doctor in the next series.

Speaking about the bizarre controversy over casting a woman in the role, Gillan said “I’m so happy – it’s a female finally. People have questioned whether a female can play the role, and that’s completely ridiculous. And we’re about to find out with Jodie [Whittaker].

“I think she’s going to be incredible. She’s such an amazing actress. And I think she’s going to rejuvenate the whole show for everyone.”

You can watch Gillan talk about the casting in the above video, followed by one of her Guardians of the Galaxy co-star’s phone going off in embarrassing fashion.
