Spoiler alert: This post contains spoilers from Episode 3 of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 10. Proceed with caution.

From the moment Yuhua Hamasaki was picked last for a team on Episode 3 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, she was on a downward spiral that revealed many flaws and weaknesses that she managed to keep hidden up until this point. Meanwhile, Mayhem Miller won the first challenge of Season 10, and yet she was picked second-to-last for the second week in a row. And it is ultimately both these queens who are forced to lip sync for their lives by the end of the episode. But let’s start at the beginning.

The queens are broken into three teams for this week’s challenge, which finds them creating commercials for faux dating apps. Monét makes it clear from the beginning that she was “stuck with Yuhua” and we soon see why she feels that way.

Yuhua struggled with understanding basic concepts and insisted that she was creating an ugly mug for her team’s Madam Butterface app, despite clearly painting on pretty golden eyebrows and lovely dots everywhere. And when her teammates tried to step in, she shouted at them to stop screaming at her (which they were not).

Meanwhile over on Team Fibstr, Mayhem volunteered to be the narrator but Kameron eventually asked if she could take the role since she wrote all the narrator’s lines. Mayhem reluctantly agreed and then proceeded to pout about not getting the part she wanted.

And instead of making the most of her part during the commercial shoot, she seemed to just give up, somehow deciding that the role of a dominatrix couldn’t be funny. And so, she wasn’t.

The rest of the episode featured comical moments (Monique directing herself by saying, “3, 2, 1, action” before every take. Blair saying it’s hard to be there without her mom while looking like a literal five-year-old) and drama (Aquaria and Vixen clashing several times throughout the episode, making it clear that their feud is far from over).

So, after a feather-themed runway and the viewing of the commercial parodies, it’s Blair, Eureka, and Asia on top, with Mayhem, Kameron, and Yuhua on the bottom. Mayhem claimed she knew this was her fate, basically admitting that she was being too nice to complain about the role switch and assuming there was no way she could make the most out of her new part.

Asia won the week’s challenge, thanks to her hilarious face contortions in the main challenge, and Mayhem and Yuhua were forced to lip sync to Hole’s “Celebrity Skin.” Ms. Miller took the opportunity to remind us all why she was a frontrunner in the first place, giving a fiery performance that found her passionately ripping the feathers out of her dress.

And so, Yuhua was forced to sashay away, while Mayhem lived to see another day. It was a jam-packed episode that reminded us that Season 10 is not messing around. And there was just as much happening in Untucked after the main episode, but we’ll unpack all that drama in tomorrow’s power rankings and interview with Yuhua.
