‘Doki Doki Literature Club’ Is a Dark Mindf–k Twist on Anime Dating Sims

At first glance Doki Doki Literature Club looks like any number of high school anime dating sims, resplendent with pink hues and overly busty girls who blush at everything you say. But beneath the saccharine surface lies a hidden horror game that does what few games manage to do. It takes away the player’s ability to control the situation, dragging them into the horror and refusing to let them escape.

What’s really cool about Doki Doki Literature Club is that it’s a hidden horror game. The Steam page keeps it subtle, and the game starts off so normal that it’s easy to go in blind and get sucker punched by the initial descent into horror when the body count starts.

Doki Doki Literature Club is one of those “Best games nobody played” for 2017, but it’s definitely worth checking out on Steam, especially for anime fans or hell anyone into horror. Also it’s totally free so that’s freaking cool too.
