The hub area known as The Tower in the original Destiny is long gone. In fact, in the opening mission of the game you see it burnt to a crisp by the attacking Cabal. So far, there’s been no details on what the Destiny 2 hub will look like, until now that is.

The Destiny 2 hub won’t be the Tower, but instead it’s a new area known as The Farm. From the looks of the video published as part of the IGN First program, The Farm should be a similar size to The Tower but also includes a ton of new features.

The biggest one for fans will no doubt be the fact it includes a proper football field, complete with goals and a scoreboard, meaning you’ll be able to play a game with your mates without having to even leave Destiny. Sorry FIFA.

As it’s a farm, there are also chickens milling about, but there’s no word on whether you can carry them around as you can in Zelda or Fable.

Some of the familiar elements from The Tower are also present of course, including the Crytarch for new gear, the Postmaster for checking your messages and other merchants.

We love the fact that The Farm will evolve as you play through the campaign. You’ll notice plot specific characters will appear and disappear according to where you are in the story, while human survivors will start making their home at The Farm the further you progress. It seems like the Destiny 2 hub will feel far more alive than The Tower and more connected too.

Up to 26 players can come together in The Farm at any time, with spaceships continuously dropping off and collecting your fellow Guardians.

Destiny 2 is launching September 6 on Xbox One and PS4, with the PC version arriving a little later on October 24.
