The Merc with a Mouth is looking to go viral once again. Deadpool (also known as actor Ryan Reynolds) paid a return trip to Screen Junkies’ Honest Trailers series in conjunction with the Blu-Ray release for the “Super Duper Cut” of this summer’s hit sequel Deadpool 2, which has grossed over $700 million worldwide.

But the snarky anti-hero wasn’t there to roast his own film – instead, he decided to turn Honest Trailers’ trademark style against itself, producing a trailer of his own for the web series.

Pre-empting the inevitable Screen Junkies snark regarding the pending Fox/Disney merger, co-star TJ Miller’s off-screen troubles, and what some fans saw as the film’s disrespectful treatment of classic X-Force characters, Deadpool instead lampoons the channel’s tendency to use overblown “logic gaps” as fodder to take down blockbuster films. As well as on over-reliance on tropes, like the ‘Starring…’ section, a segment that Deadpool dismisses as mostly “bad puns.”

He even saves a little critique for Reynolds’ infamous first foray into a superhero leading role, 2011’s Green Lantern. Watch Deadpool’s take on Honest Trailers below:

This is the third collaboration between Reynolds and the Honest Trailers team, which recently earned its third Emmy nomination for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series. They first teamed up two years ago for the first Deadpool film, an episode which became a YouTube sensation, racking up over 20 million views to date and ranking as one of the five most-watched entries in the series.

Deadpool returned in 2017 to help the team lampoon the critically-acclaimed Logan, a collaboration that earned the Screen Junkies writers and Reynolds a Streamy Award for Best Collaboration.

The idea for the third team-up, which features Deadpool giving an unmerciful take on the Honest Trailers series, came from Reynolds himself. He proposed the concept to writers Spencer Gilbert, Joe Starr, and Dan Murrell, who couldn’t say no.
