Batman: The Telltale Series is coming out with its third episode, “New World Order, on October 25. Telltale has already given us their take on several DCU villains, including Catwoman, the Penguin, and Two-Face, but from the episode description — “a new generation of supervillains rise and threaten to overturn the traditional institutions of power” — it looks like this episode is going to be even bigger and crazier.

The DCU has a lot of great villains, and Batman has fought almost all of them at some point or another. We got to talking about who the greatest overall villain in the DCU is and decided to put it to a vote. It would probably be easy to do this tournament as “Who would win in a fight?” But for our purposes, we’re going to stick to “Who’s the BEST villain?”

In other words, who’s the best character to read about? Who’s the most interesting? Who does the greatest job antagonizing their nemesis? That’s a better measure of a villain than just raw physical power. Plus we didn’t think the title should just go to someone like Darkseid or the Anti-Monitor.

We narrowed it down to 8 for our purposes. It was difficult, but we tried to make sure we had a good balance of all the different corners of the DCU. We need to have Batman villains represented, of course, so we went with the Joker and the Penguin. Superman’s villains are represented by Lex Luthor. Cheetah is there for Wonder Woman. Black Manta is obviously Aquaman’s arch-nemesis. Deathstroke is there to represent the Teen Titans, Reverse-Flash is there for the Flash, and Sinestro is there for Green Lantern. It’s a regular basket of deplorables here.

Thanks for voting! Make sure to check back in a week for the next round!
